Stay Foolish
For the last 17 months, everyday has been different from the last. I’ve written, talked, tweeted, and snapped about unpredictability, up’s & down’s, hustle, motivation/confidence (and lack there-of) and just about everything else that comes with entrepreneurship and building a business.
But today, on April 1st, there is another milestone. On 4/1/15, I wrote a blog post about what I learned in my first 7 months and shared the news that I was officially joining the WeWork system and getting a desk that I would be paying with my own money.
A lot has evolved over the last 12 months since then with the amazing support, dedication, and “roll-up your sleeves" mentality from interns, part-time staff, and contractors (Robyn, Lara, Emilie, Poll, Daniel, Rachel, Mandi, Hannah, Jamie and many more) that have helped create content for our clients, TNM, sat in on podcast, sent a cold email, planned an event, or started a new initiative that still exists today.
For the last 17 months, I have been foolish.
(Foolishness is the lack or failure of wisdom and of making proper careful choices.)
What I am doing is risky. It takes guts. It takes crucial conversations. Over-communication with myself, my wife, my friends, my clients, staff, and everyone around me. What I’ve also learned, is that I have to embrace this foolishness focusing on the keywords “proper careful choices.”
And that is what I am working on right now. Trying to figure out what makes sense right now because I’ve decided I want Kevin O’Connell - the Entrepreneur, Speaker, Digital Storyteller, and Founder of The Niche Movement - to be bigger than just me.
You’ll hear and see behind the scenes of what WE (yes, we) are cooking up.
From the @nichemovement (yes, please follow us) Snapchat guest stories, where we will be disrupting traditional networking and speed up the process of getting an inside, unfiltered/unproduced look of different industries and those who love what they do, all the way to TWO big announcements we are going to make early in May.
I have so many people to thank for allowing me to help them. Make an impact on them. Show them a new way to think or tell their story. The list is growing which still shocks me that I get to do this for a living. Thank you to all the clients, individuals, and Niche Movement community for saying yes.
Sharing a tweet. Responding to an email. Connecting me that one person.
You have no idea in the role you are playing - you are helping me stay foolish. Thank you!
Thank you for your attention and stay tuned :)
