As we prepare to enter 2019, The Niche Movement team took some time to reflect. We give you tips and tricks for finding your niche all year long, but the New Year is a special time to celebrate accomplishments, to goal set, and above all to relax.
Our small but mighty team gave their two cents on what went well this year, and how they’re charting their courses in 2019. Read on to see how The Niche Movement Social Media Intern Jaylene Perez is finishing out 2018 strong.
At the end of the year, I feel like I can let out a sigh of relief. It’s over. I can wipe that metaphorical slate clean. I enjoy making lists and filling out planners, so it’s easy for me to go straight into planning out my new year’s resolutions. But over the years, I have found that it’s equally important for me to reflect on the past year, the good and the bad, and to express my gratitude for all of it. For me personally, this past year has been one of immense growth.
I found myself taking more risks this past year. Usually I like to stay in my comfort zone, but last year I found myself in a place of stagnation and I knew that if I wanted to be happy, things needed to change. Although I was scared at the time, now looking back I’m glad I was brave enough to take those risks. I’ve been able to connect with a lot of new people this past year, and I’ve had a lot of new opportunities come my way. I’ve learned that if I want something, it’s up to me to take those first steps. The risks I took paid off, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
My goal for 2019 is to maintain and nurture those new relationships I’ve made and to continue to push myself outside my limits, because I’ve come to realize that I’m stronger than I think.
I hope that this December, you take the time to reflect on the past year. We can always learn from our mistakes, and we should take the time to appreciate our accomplishments. I think that’s something that tends to be overlooked; much of the time we pass over what we’ve accomplished, whether that be in the workplace or our personal life. I hope we all take the time to consider how far we’ve come and that it makes us excited to see where 2019 will lead us.
We attract what we put out. To end the year on a positive note, filled with gratitude, is a great way to move into the new year. I want to thank The Niche Movement for welcoming me into the community, and I’m excited to keep serving you guys in the coming year.
